Wanna know a secret?
Okay, it’s not really a secret. But it is a fun fact!
There’s a park in Los Angeles called Echo Park. Big park, small parking area. There’s also a pond in the middle of it.
I know what you’re thinking: So what? There’s a pond. Big deal.
It is a big deal! BECAUSE THEY HAVE PADDLE BOATS!
Even bigger deal? IT’S $10 A PERSON for about an hour or so. (The guy that helped us told us that “no one was keeping track” of the time.) They only take cash, though. Womp, womp.
The pond has a a fountain sprinkler thing and it’s so pretty! Since it’s constantly spouting water, the mist creates a constant mini rainbow.
There are “gardens” filled with lily pads and flowers and plants. You have to stay a good 6 feet away from them or you’ll get sucked in and get stuck. (That didn’t happen to me, but fair warning.) You can bring drinks onto the paddle boats as well. My guy and I ended up using our phones to listen music while we paddled around.
It’s a good and low maintenance date. And cheap too! It was fun, romantic, and honestly it was the ducks and the swans that made it really entertaining.
Pack a picnic and then go out and paddle!
